Help & Advice

Being or knowing someone who is transgender can be difficult. Although things have improved massively in recent years, there is still much suspicion, misunderstanding, and challenges to be faced by trans people. Sadly, in some parts of the world, it is not possible to openly live in your desired gender without facing serious persecution or criminal prosecution and punishment.

When someone struggles with their gender identity, it is natural that they have a lot of questions; we fully understand: we are walking the same journey. We understand that you may be struggling with your internal preconceptions, questioning your sexuality, and being worried about where to start or how others may react.

If you have someone you live with, a spouse, or a child, you'll almost certainly be grappling with similar issues and trying to understand. Maybe you are wondering how best to support them or questioning (or perhaps blaming) yourself.

These pages are intended as a useful start in answering these issues. There is a real sense in which every case is unique. You may be fortunate to have a supportive family and group of friends or find yourself alone and rejected. Please use these pages as a starting point, but don't forget we are here to help and support you in your journey. So don't forget you can reach out for help and support.
